Self-Reflective-Journal: Week Two: 26/07/24

This week we had an in-class lab session with Jason from 10 am-12 pm. This was because we communicated verbally with Dr. Kennedy in person and got help from peers around us. Dr Kennedy reintroduced himself in today's lab and went through a short showreel of his projects and life. Then we went over what Faceware is and how it's used. Dr Kennedy went through a PowerPoint presentation and I took notes of all the important information beneficial to me.

In the second half of the lab, Dr Kennedy went around giving feedback on the first checkpoint the notation of the face and body analysis of our scene. Dr Kennedy advised me to keep an eye out for the subtle body movements in the body pose description. I had a few gaps in the section as I struggled to find changes, but with Dr Kenned's guidance I was able to get a fresh view on the content in front of me.

Then after getting feedback I opened 'Analyzer' to do the faceware on Officer Fred Crowley. This was pretty straightforward as Dr Kennedy had explained in depth how to go about doing the task in step by step instructions on the lectures videos posted on canvas. This was quite fun as I got to play around with a new interface that was simple to use while placing markers and using train and tracker when setting keys.

I was able to get the brows, eyes and nose tracked and done and all was left was to refine and jitters and do the mouth. I would have to come to university to do this as we only got to do a trail for home and my mac probably could not handle it. So, I chose to do as much as I could during the lesson and stay for the second class lesson for 30 extra minutes. This was beneficial as I was able to get into a rhythm of how to do everything without having to look at the lecture video.
