Self-Reflective-Journal: Week Six: 22/08/24
This week I started posing the mouth. In Analyzer I picked all the vital poses and noted them down. As usual, I set my file up properly and then in Faceware in Maya I added all my pose frames. I went through and used the mouth, corner pull, dimple purse and teeth controllers mainly to manipulate the mouth shapes. I personally think that posing the mouth was the hardest part of the face to pose because of the many shapes It could morph into and express. Trying to keep the mouth as accurate to the reference was a struggle but creating the poses brought the whole face poses together. I made nineteen keys for the mouth as it moved a lot and I needed it to move correctly at certain times. With Dr Kennedy's feedback, I'm sure I can fix some jitteriness or inaccuracies in my mouth retarget when I am done posing and go back to edit the poses for a better retarget.

I knew that if I could pose the mouth as accurately as possible it be less work for me to fix when I started cleanup. I struggled a lot with making the teeth look accurate to the facial camera footage as the model teeth differed from the footage. Even using the tongue controller was a bit hard to use as the width of the tongue was much skinner. I also felt at times that my mouth corners were not that wide or not accurate which I would probably need to revisit and repose.
